Nafplion - Olympia
Corinth, Mycenae, Nafplion (overnight), Olympia
(overnight)
1st day:
Starting
from Athens we drive westwards along the
scenic coast of the Saronic Gulf until we reach the
Corinth
canal with its breathtaking views (short stop).
Shortly after we reach the Ancient
town of
Corinth (visit) where
St. Paul lived and preached for two years
. Back in ancient times Corinth was almost one of
the richest cities and this is quite evident by
its remains, including the huge
Agora
(market place) and
Apollo's Temple
(6th c. B.C.)
Greecetaxi
drives on to
Mycenae, the Homeric city of the Atreides,
the city " rich in gold " of the ancient poets.
Visit the Lions
Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the famous Royal Tombs of King
Agamemnon . Depart for ancient
Tiryns, (set on a bluff in the centre of a plain, the
fortress of Tiryns is a Cyclopean structure dating from the 13th
C
BC, a well preserved masterpiece of ancient military architecture.)

Greecetaxi proceeds to Nafplia and then on to
Epidavros to
visit the Ancient theatre (4th century B.C.)
famous for its acoustics. Return to Nafplion
(over night in a traditional hotel, located on the top of
the old city just under the castle), the picturesque town nestling at
the foot of a cliff crowned by the mighty
ramparts of the Palamidi
Fortress.

2nd day:
Visit
and explore the castle of Palamidi and ancient Tiryns.
Greecetaxi depart noon, through Central Peloponnese, the mount of Parnon and the cities of Tripoli, Megalopolis and Andritsaina (The most
extraordinary monument of the area is the very well
preserved temple of
Epikurios Apollon, at
Vassae),
arrive late in the evening in
Olympia Overnight in Olympia (Hotel with a
swimming pool).
3rd day:
After breakfast
visit the museum of Olympia. The ruins of Olympia in the idyllic
Alfios Valley testify to the grandeur of the ancient sanctuary
which through the Olympic Games was a symbol of Greek unity -
the cradle of the
Olympic Games. Visit the Archaeological Site, the Sanctuary of the
Olympian Zeus...

Greecetaxi departs at noon, to drive on through the
plains of Elias and Achaia, via Patras drive by the scenic coast
of Corinthian Gulf. Return in Athens in
the evening.
