Greece Athens taxi cab

Full Day Tour

Historical tour

Marathon, Thermopylae, Delphi* (Optional)

Thermopylae-Memorial

Greece Taxi starts from Athens in the morning, drives through the fertile plain of Mesogia. Visit the battlefields of Marathona and the tombs of the Athenian soldiers who died in the battle. Visit the museum.

Leave Marathon for the drive to Thermopylae stopping to see the statue of Leonidas. This is a tour strictly to see the battlefields and the scenery, there are no ancient ruins to see. The morphology of the ground has changed due to erosion by rain and sea. You can still get a good idea of how the battle must have been and where it took place. To obtain more detailed  information on the sites and what took place at Marathon and Thermopylae please use the hyperlinks below.

Statue of Leonidas-Thermopylae
Anopaia  - Atrapos Odos was a secret path, hidden and difficult to traverse that began at Trachina near the Asopos river and ended at a small decline after the third narrow passage of Thermopylae In 480 BC, in the battle of Thermopylae, the traitor Ephialtis, knowledgeable of the area, revealed its existence to the Persians resulting in the flanking of the Greek forces and the sacrifice of Leonidas and his 300 Spartans. We begin walking along the path from the old monastery of Damaltas after a beautiful journey of 3 /12 to 4 /12 hours we end up in the village of Thermopylae and Leonidas' statue. When Leonidas was queried on why Spartans prefer a glorious death to an inglorious life he responded "because one is an attribute of nature and the other is our own attribute." Option: *Visit Delhi if you would like to visit the Oracle of Apollo which the Greeks would consult before battles. This would add another 2-3 hours to the tour.
